1. Faculty Page - The Committee discussed the importance of having current contact information for each online faculty member. The page should include the phone number, email address, and web page (if any). Since the 12-15-06 meeting, a page was created at http://missiononline.pbwiki.com/faculty and Eric Rettke kindly uploaded it to http://lamission.edu/online so that our online students have easy access to this information. This information is essential for students in contacting their online faculty when they have questions or problems in accessing the site, or with assignments, etc.
2. Resources for Students and Faculty - The Committee discussed the importance of having resources such as login information, tutorials, powerpoint presentations, and "Are You Ready to Take an Online Class" available to both online students and faculty. 3. Grandfathering - The Committee discussed the issue of current faculty who have been teaching online for a number of years. The Committee decided that it would adopt a resolution to grandfather such faculty into the online program. Paul Mckenna will draft such a resolution, and send it out to the members of the Committee for review and approval in our next meeting. Paul also agreed that he would take over the file maintained for keeping copies of the certificates, and be charge of that file and process.
4. Tech Ed - David Jordan obtained an agreement with Tech Ed to accept a one time payment of $1500 to cover any and all staff and faculty who want to attend, a day or all three days of the Tech Ed 2007 Event - see http://www.techedevents.org/2007/ David and the Committee will seek College funds either from the IT Dept, Tech Funds (TTIP) or Title V. Members of the Committee will attend, and then we will hold a de-briefing of what was learned at the conference which we can use at the college.
5. Online Orientation for Students - Vilma, David and Myriam will work together to present the Spring 2007 Student Orientation to Online Classes. It is scheduled for Weds. 6. Counseling and Admissions - The Committee discussed the importance of working with both Counseling and Admissions to assist our students with any matters or issues related to Counseling and Admissions as it relates to online students. 7. Etudes NG Training - Vilma suggested we leverage training with our sister colleges. David will email the list serv of DE Coordinators, and set up a link which will contain all of the training dates in etudes ng for the Spring 2007 semester which our faculty can attend. The 4th Etudes NG workshop is scheduled for 1/29 through 2/01 and only 9 faculty have signed up - see http://missionetudes.pbwiki.com/tasks4 - David asked the Committee to promote to faculty to obtain a few more faculty participants.
