1. Online Library Resources - David Garza from the Library Staff joined us in our meeting and we discussed online library resources, and access. Eric suggested that it is complicated to have a universal login to all of the databases from an IT perspective. David agreed that the Library could provide the list of databases with username/passcodes to online faculty at the beginning of each semester, and the faculty could provide it to their students under their respective course management systems.
Also David Garza said that the Library would be amenable to provide online help for students doing research papers - similar to on campus students, and to work on developing online resources similar to the on campus workshops on Information Competency - see http://lamission.edu/library for a list of those workshops. The DE Committee will work with the Library in developing such online Information Competency workshops for our online students.
2. Online Counseling and Advising - Suzanne Ritcheson contacted David Jordan and informed the Committee that she would act at the online advising and counseling person, and her name and phone number has now been placed on the online page at http://lamission.edu/online - She will monitor this task and report to the Committee any of her recommendations and suggestions re online counseling and advising.
3. Rubric for DE Tech Review - Paul presented a rubric to the Curriculum Committee on April 10th for review in the process of evaluating the course content and design of online classes. The Curriculum Committee made a number of suggestions, and one was that the DE Committee after it had reviewed a class for approval of online delivery, that it give a recommendation and tech review of the page for review by Curriculum. here is the current rubric - http://lamc-ddl.pbwiki.com/f/rubric.doc
4. Student Survey - The Committee discussed the Student Survey as proposed by LATTC - see - and it was recommended that a Memo be sent to Council of Instruction recommending all online faculty use the survey at the end of their classes.
