Subject: Distance
Education Faculty and Student Satisfaction Surveys
The System Office is surveying faculty and students
who are teaching or are taking distance education (DE) courses during the
semester. The survey is a tool to
measure distance education satisfaction at the local level. Results for your college are compiled
and provided to the institution.
Your college’s results are available only to you. Many colleges use the surveys as their
method of gathering this information as opposed to conducting their own campus
surveys. Data are aggregated at
the system level and will be reported to the Board of Governors in the biannual
DE Report.
Your college’s
participation in this process is crucial to understanding the complexities of
DE within the California Community Colleges system. Each survey will only take a few minutes to complete and are
completely anonymous. Please
inform the faculty and students the surveys will be available via the Internet until
December 31, 2008.
Please transmit this memo containing
the URL information to faculty members who taught a DE course and request they
complete the survey. In addition,
please have faculty provide the URL to all students enrolled in their DE
course(s). We appreciate your
cooperation and look forward to a representative response to these surveys from
your campus.
