email from OEI re Etudes Migration Tool

Dear Colleagues at Colleges Migrating from Etudes to Canvas,

As many of you know, several months ago the OEI contracted with Instructure to develop an Etudes migration tool to support the migration of course content from Etudes export packages into Canvas. The goal was to create a tool with equal or better conversion rates as other migration tools available within Canvas.

We are pleased to report that the Etudes to Canvas migration tool is nearly complete and available for your use. Once finished on December 21st, Instructure will deploy the migration tool to your Canvas instance for use. It can be found in your instance by clicking on "Account" and then "Profile" in the left hand navigation of Canvas, a link to the tool will show up to the left labeled "Content Migrations".

We are also including a number of resources that were developed by Judy Baker at Foothill College to assist you and your college faculty with the migration process.

These resources include:

1. Etudes Migration into Canvas Training Course (see https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-2687 for assistance in importing)

2. Workarounds for functionality in Etudes that are NOT available in Canvas (PDF)

3. Migrating Homepage (PDF)

4. Migrating Links (PDF)

5. Migrating Announcements (PDF)

6. Importing Content Packages into Canvas (PDF)

7. Exporting Assessments (PDF)

8. Crosswalk Etudes to Canvas (PDF)

9. Exporting Modules (PDF)

10. Exporting Discussions (PDF)

***Resources 2-10 are documents downloaded from the Migration training course.

Please note that all resources (1-10) are CC-BY licensed. You will likely want to edit some information to suit your individual campus needs.

Once the tool is ready on December 21st, we will follow-up with any additional information that we can provide.

While the tool has gone through testing, you may have questions or find an issue to report. Please direct all inquiries to me.

Thank you and Happy Holidays All!
