LAMC adopted the use of Canvas as its single college-wide LAMC on 5-15-15 with implementation starting Summer 2016 (6-1-16) to replace Etudes LMS.

For purposes of  Article 40 B. 2 (a) and (b), LAMC faculty teaching an online or hybrid course demonstrate LMS proficiency in Canvas as follows:

Has taught an online or hybrid class within the last five years, has obtained a certificate in etudes/moodle/blackboard or another commonly used college LMS,  has completed the Self Paced Canvas Course and has printed out the grades for completion of all 4 modules (with a minimum overall grade and pass rate of 75%) , and  has migrated content of their online class(es) to Canvas no later than 3/30/16, and upon review are approved by the respective Department Chair (or proxy in the event it is a Department Chair's classes) on or before 4/24/16. The DEC provides the Online Course Checksheet for best practices in carrying out the review.  The list of approved migrated courses (from Etudes to Canvas) shall be forwarded to Academic Affairs no later than 5/1/16, and said list of faculty approved Canvas courses demonstrates LMS proficiency in Canvas for said faculty.

New online classes in Canvas

Has never taught an online class, or has not taught an online class within the last five years and provides a certificate in Canvas from the following alternatives:

      (a) @One Canvas course - Introduction to Teaching with Canvas (4 weeks)

      (b)  equivalent @One course in Canvas from one of the LACCD sister colleges

      (c)  equivalent Canvas course (upon DEC review and approval)

      (d) completed the Self-Paced Canvas Course (and submitted a printout of the gradesheet for all 4 modules)
