Minutes 2-09-07 - Minutes

present: Said Pazirandeh, Paul McKenna, Eric Rettke, Myriam Mekelburg and David Jordan

meeting started: at 8:15 am and finished at 9:30 am

1. Syllabus and Textbook - The Committee discussed providing online students with a link for syllabus type information, course description, and current textbook. We will develop a template similar to WLAC - see http://www.wlac.edu/online/s07courses/law1(8).htm for an example. This additional information will be provided to online students for the Fall 2007 semester.

2. Student Services - The Committee discussed the need for online students to receive online advising and counseling. The Committee discussed this matter, and decided to request Counseling appoint one of their counselors to our DE Committee. Second, the Committee decided to set up a meeting with Counseling to discuss and implement the detail of online advising. Paul, Myriam and David will set up meeting. (a meeting has been scheduled for 2-28-07 with Suzanne Ritcheson who has been assigned by Counseling to provide online counseling to our students).

3. Last day to add classes - The Committee recommended that the 2/20 deadline to add class, and also that online students may be dropped from their online class if they do not login before 2/20. This advisory will be added to the main online page at http://lamission.edu/online (this was done on 2-11-07 following the meeting)

4. What constitutes a "hybrid class" - The Committee discussed what constitutes a "hybrid class". Paul Mckenna said he would provide a 1st rough draft of such a policy. draft-hybrid . The Committee will review this in our next meeting of 2-23-07.
