1. Late Add of Students - Policy - The Committee discussed at length the issue of late adds. Alma will check on the current policy. An add slip is required for students who want to add the class after the first day, even if the class is not filled. Paul will check out the LACCD and Mission online system to see if there are any "glitches" in allowing students to register without an add slip. The add slip should be signed and sent to Admissions. The policy will be posted at our main online page - http://lamission.edu/online to advise our online students.
2. Accreditation and passwords to every online and hybrid class - Alma will talk with Kathleen, and a letter will be drafted and sent to the online faculty. David will email the online faculty and ask if they provide him as DE Chair a guest username and password for their online classes by March 1st, and to keep it open until April 1, 2007.
3. Discuss Instructor Evaluation and content review - rubric - and advising Department Chairs and implementation - see http://lamc-ddl.pbwiki.com/content-review-rubric The Committee discussed this matter. Said, David, and Paul will meet to propose language for the 3/08 Curriculum Committee re course approval and instructor evaluation. Paul has developed a rubric based upon University of Illinois Online - see contentreview.htm
4. Instructor Pages - at http://lamission.edu/online - what-is-missing - Eric indicated that the IT Department is working on this information and that it will be data base driven. In the meanwhile David will contact faculty for summer and ask for syllabus and textbook for each class to assist our online students. see http://missiononline.pbwiki.com/su07
5. Discuss end of class survey by online students - and administration - see sample at http://profj.us/ddl/forms/studentsurvey.htm - also the survey for LAMC Instructors - http://wellness.lattc.edu/online/evals/LAMCeval.html which goes to http://missiononline@gmail.com
The DE Committee will contact the Department Chairs and will participate with the Chairs in evaluation of the online instructors. Student Surveys would form one of the factors in evaluating our online faculty.
6. Discuss and approve a policy on Hybrid classes - Committee did not discuss this matter. This will be discussed in our next DE Meeting at 3/09/07.
